| In January of 2007 the Friends of Hemlock Bluffs established the Nature Program Scholarship fund. These scholarships are available to children and teens 5 to 16 years old who enjoy nature and the environment. Applicants must submit a 100 word essay on "Why I Love Hemlock Bluffs" or "My Favorite Nature Experience at Hemlock Bluffs". Younger kids can submit a personalized drawing. Applications are reviewed by the Friends of Hemlock Bluffs, and winners will be able to participate in a camp or nature program for free or at a reduced price. Classes may be taken at any time up to one year from the award of the scholarship. Winning pictures and essays are posted on the bulletin board outside the Stevens Nature Center classroom. 2008 winners are: Marisa Smith, Michelle West, Abigail Bowdish, Elizabeth Bowdish, Elaine Smith and Lydia Pearson.
